Philip Martin

Represented by:

Philip
is a writer who has worked in all aspects of drama that includes plays and series for mainstream TV. A commission by the BBC to research the Birmingham underworld resulted in his original
two hour film for BBC1, “Gangsters”. This led to a further commission for two subsequent six part series that featured groundbreaking techniques that prompted the Open University to feature his work on their study list. As well as series work such as three episodes
of “Dr. Who”, Philip has had productions of his stage plays at the National Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre, the Traverse Theatre in
Edinburgh, the
Liverpool Playhouse and his local theatre, The Duke’s Playhouse, Lancaster. Philip has written numerous
crime adaptations and original plays for Radio 3 and 4, including
“Dead Soldiers”, voted best radio play of the year. At present, Philip is once more writing for theatre and film interspersed with creating children’s stories that he hopes will eventually instruct and entertain his young granddaughter, Erin.
