Mary Jayne Baker
Mary Jayne Baker grew up in rural West Yorkshire, right in the heart of Brontë country… and she’s still there. After graduating from Durham University with a degree in English Literature she dallied with living in cities including London, Nottingham and Cambridge, but eventually came back, with her own romantic hero in tow, to her beloved Dales, where she first started telling stories about heroines with flaws and the men who love them. Her novels are set in the Yorkshire Dales; joining the cycling Tour de Yorkshire, performing the Christmas pantomime, teaching in the village school, taking part in the weekly pub quiz – her characters are doing so much more than falling in love (and they do a lot of that too).
She also writes under the pseudonym Lisa Swift. In 2020 Mary Jayne won the Romantic Comedy category of the RNA Awards with her novel, THE QUESTION OF US.
