From a seaside town in Kent, Lily teaches at a small village school near Canterbury and has recently completed her first novel, BAD PENNY, a YA novel set in the Scottish Highlands.
‘Windy beaches, rolling hills and ancient estates all combine to inspire my writing. Having started writing stories and poems at an early age, BAD PENNY arose from a time away from university when illness enabled me to channel my own emotions into my heroine, Penn, and intertwine them with her own anguish in the Scottish backwater village of Naeway.
‘A voracious reader, I combine literary inspiration from Meg Rosoff, Jandy Nelson and Stella Gibbons with my love of the outdoors to find ideas. In my spare time, I enjoy anything from paddle-boarding and horse riding to hiking and dog-sledding in the mountains; as long, of course, as there is an armchair and a book to come back to after!’
