When Blessing finds a lost bag of paper birds she follows a trail of hopes and wishes to the community who made them, in this lyrical, free-verse tale about kindness and friendship.
Filled with light, love and birdsong, Swallow’s Kiss (for readers of 7+) is a wonderfully uplifting story that explores the common threads that connect our communities. It was inspired by Sita Brahmachari’s and illustrator Jane Ray’s experiences as artists-in-residence at the Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants.
Swallow’s Kiss is part of the 10 Stories to Make a Difference collection: ten original illustrated stories for young readers, all inspired by the theme of Difference. The collection features a mix of well-known and emerging writers and illustrators, giving a platform to untold stories and diverse new voices. Proceeds from sales supports Pop Up’s work in deprived schools, marginalised communities, and with talented aspiring and emerging writers and illustrators.
