Laurie Slade’s The Liberty Truck has historic opening in Kenya

At Kenya’s Muthaiga Country Club, The Liberty Truck sold out and was much acclaimed. It told a painful story of Kenya’s colonial past with its conflicts and injustices, in the Muthaiga Country Club – once a bastion of white settlerdom – with a committed and exuberant cast, in which race, gender and class were transcended, so that black could play white, women play men, and staff stand equal to members in the Club. A celebration of what 60 years of independence have brought in Kenya.
