Mark Wheeller
GRAHAM, THE WORLD’S FASTEST BLIND MAN, Mark Wheeller’s play about Paralympic Games athlete Graham Salmon MBE (listed in the Guinness Book of Records as The World’s Fastest Blind Runner in 1977), has won awards in the finals of both the National Drama Festival Association (2007) and the All England Theatre Festival (2008). An earlier version of the play, titled RACE TO BE SEEN was awarded Critics Choice at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (1984). The play, selected as a study text by Edexcel, is published by dbda.
There is also to be a special 25th anniversary performance of Mark Wheeller’s TOO MUCH PUNCH FOR JUDY in March 2013 with a re-worked script. A documentary style play written almost 25 years ago, TOO MUCH PUNCH FOR JUDY is now one of our most performed contemporary plays. Since it was first shown in a 30 seat school drama studio in 1988 it has had six thousand licensed performances and been seen by over half a million people. Published by dbda, it is constantly on tour by Ape Theatre Company, performed by schools worldwide and is now an established exam performance study script for GCSE, Btec, A’ level, University and Drama Schools.
